On the Road Again...

This summer my friend Kortney lived in Texas while she was doing an internship.  When she was ready to move back to Utah, Janae and I headed out to Houston to help her.

When we got to Texas, there was a storm and so we flew around the Gulf for a while.  At that point we were ready to be off the plane and took pictures of ourselves.  I think the lady next to us wanted to kill us.

We finally landed and Kort met us.
We immediately headed for food.  Our whole trip was planned around food.  I think we had frozen yogurt after almost every meal.  Good for us.

The next day we saw a few sights around Houston.  We went to a Holocaust Museum.  Then we went to some park - I'm sure it had a name - and it probably would have been more enjoyable if it wouldn't have been so stinking humid.  At the park we went on a paddleboat.
These fun little guys followed us the whole time.
Then we went a saw this water wall that dropped 11,000 gallons of water per minute.  A waste of water?  Perhaps, but it sure felt good.
On our way home another storm rolled in.  It was raining so hard we had to pull over in a parking lot and wait it out.   This picture definitely does not do it justice.  After it stopped raining the water was up past the bottoms of the cars.
That night we had a BBQ/pool party with some of Kortney's friends.  The apartments that we were at had the BEST pool.  I wanted to sit in those chairs in the water and read all day.  We talked about this pool for the rest of the trip.
Day three brought the road trippin'.
First stop:  Target.  We had to stock up for the drive.  The company Kort worked for footed the bill.  Pretty sick.
Shortly after hitting the road we met our new best friend.  We were dancing and singing in the car, and he pulled up along side of us and danced with us.  For the next two hours we proceeded to pass each other and do dance moves.  We named him Josh.  We missed him when he was gone.
After driving across Texas, our first stop was Oklahoma City.  We stayed right in downtown and wandered around the river walk that night.
Drive, drive, drive was all that was done on the next day.  We went across Kansas.  Yeah, there is still nothing there.
We ended the day in Denver.  We ate at the Cheesecake Factory - DELICIOUS!
Our hotel room that night had a loft and a murphy bed.  We didn't know what a murphy bed was so we Googled it.  It's the bed that comes out of the wall.  We were pretty stoked about that one.
On the counter in our room there was this note.  August 15th is the day we stayed there.  Jipner is not any of our last names either...
After dreaming about that fantastic pool for two days, we went to the hotel's hot tub.  Oh man.  GHETTO.  It wasn't necessarily warm water.  The jets were hilarious.  It felt like you had a rocket pack strapped to your back.  It would shake you uncontrollably.  You had to put your arms out to brace yourself.  The jets were also a little on the wild side.  We all pulled our hair up to keep it dry, but the jets would shoot up over our heads and we were completely drenched by the end.  We were laughing so hard.
On our last day we drove a little more.  Through Wyoming and then finally to UTAH.  Oh mountains, we missed you so much.
We spent about 24 hours in the car, but it only felt like 2 with these girls.
